What Specifically Are The Benefits Of Homeschooling

Benefits of homeschooling

Firstly lets try to comprehend the reasons we would want John and Vickie to learn at home versus going to public schools. Lets start with some of the superficial reasons, first one being you do not have to get up at 6:00 am in the morning and get them dressed for school, pack the lunches, give them all your normal instructions and wait for them to get home hoping everything went well that day at school.

Moving on to some of the more important benefits of homeschooling your children. Things that could possibly happen at a public school that would affect your children are a thing of the past when you choose homeschooling. Gaining command of your childs development is one of the best benefits of homeschooling that i can see. You are the only one that will make the choices as to what you think your child needs to learn or do and will no longer be something that you do not have a lot of visibility to. Being able to decide the homeschool curriculum that best fits your childrens learning needs and/or the interests of the child is probably one of the best benefits of homeschooling.

The average ratio of children to students in most schools is approx one teacher to twenty students. So one of the other benefits of homeschooling is the one on one attention that your child will recieve. Ok, Karen needs more work in math, all you have to do is add more time to math and maybe less time in english or whatever you choose as there is not any set class times for teaching a subject like there is in most of your public schools. What this means is your child will be able to put more hours into a subject that they need more help with without being pressured. Remember that the time it takes for a child to learn a subject will depend on the every different child.

The teaching of your children becomes like a family issue and everyone in the family can become involved with a lot of the steps of teaching and learning, and this is a beautiful thing. Another thing that you will really love about homeschooling your child is you get to take them on field trips where you will both learn and have a wonderful time, and you will be doing experiments with them, which can be very interesting, but all then this also equals you are spending much more "quality time" with you child and i believe that this also brings a family much closer.

Your child not having to put up with the negative peer pressure within the public school systems is one of the largest benefits of homeschooling. Also because you understand your children more than anyone else you can plan the learning sessions to help keep your child interested and moving forward, one thing that i always like to do is mix the childs difficult schooling activities with something that your child enjoys. One of my most favorite things to do with my children every once in a while is afeter a couple of hours on one of the tougher subjects take them on a field trip to place that they could learn about with in the subjects they are studying and with this the child is having a lot of fun but is also learning.

When it comes to teaching all ages of children one of the very first thing a teacher needs to do is try to figure out the childs most comfortable learning style, as it differs from one child to the next, lets say Jane learns best by writing, and David learns best when he reads, and then still there is Tony who wants to see it action so he is a visual type learning style, everone has a style in which you learn faster. Another benefit of homeschooling that a lot of people like is you also get to teach your children what you believe both moraly and religously and the child will not be confused as some get in public schools because with you homeschooling your child there is no difference between what you are teaching your child and what is also being practiced in your home.

Before i end this article i would like to say that more and more parents today are becoming dis-satisfied with our public school programs. Some think that there children are not learning enough, or some that the child might be getting pushed way to hard. Other heavy issues that parents are worrying about are the ehtics and discipline that are being taught in public schools. There are many many reasons that parents are choosing to homeschool these days and i believe that homeschooling is the best way for a child in todays world to learn, but remember this requires a lot of your time, so dont start it unless your positive that you have the time so it will benefit your childs education.
